Senior Services - Aging Services Contributing to the welfare of seniors and their families around the US are government, private, and non-profit senior service agencies whose primarily mission is to be a resource within their community for seniors and their families, while at the same time helping set quality standards through the enforcement of regulations and licensing standards in relation to senior care. Generally, you will find that State and Government offices have a wealth of helpful information. Seniors and people with disabilities will have easy access to a wide range of social and health services, housing alternatives and support systems needed to continue to live safely and with dignity in the least restrictive living situation. These services often use Local, State and Federal public funds and programs to help keep elderly persons and people with disabilities at home and as independent as possible. These services depend often on your tax support - your Government at work. The person behind the counter or on the phone will often have wrestled with the same issues you are calling about. Non-profit agencies also exist throughout the Country in local communities and generally provide a specialized area of service, such as Meals On Wheels (Visit Meals on Wheels) or Loaves & Fishes. (Visit Loaves & Fishes) These and other non-profits are growing throughout the Country and depend on our generosity and active involvement. If you are aware of a volunteer-based service in your area that you believe deserves to be showcased on your state site of The Senior Care Guide, please notify us.
