Adult Day Care Centers
Adult Day Care Centers are licensed in Oklahoma to provide basic day care services to unrelated adults for more than 4 hours in a 24-hour period, where the senior can maintain maximum independence and to prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization of functionally impaired seniors. The family member can drop grandma and/or grandpa off and can be assured that their loved one is under the supervision of a trained Adult Day Care Provider, is able to interact socially with other seniors and is offered some recreation.
The Adult Day Care Center can be situated in a free standing building, or might be a separate program within a larger organization with its own separated space, budget and participant record system.
Scenario I
In today’s day and age when two incomes are needed to make ends meet, women who used to be the primary care giver to elderly parents or relatives now have to make choices between caring for their elders and helping to put food on the table.
When that family member no longer feels comfortable to leave mom and/or dad alone at home for a full day an Adult Day Care Center might just be the solution needed. After work the family member can either pick up the senior or make arrangements to have him/her picked up and delivered back home.
Scenario II
A family caregiver is giving care to a senior day-in, day-out and needs periods of relief to not get burned out. An
Adult Day
Care
Center is the perfect setting for this respite care. Check on The Senior Care Guide for the nearest one to your own location.
