Retirement Living in Arizona

Arizona's active retirees are choosing to live the varied life styles they have been accustomed to through-out their busy years of work and raising their families. Their choices are often driven by finances, location of children, grandchildren, friends, hobbies, their communities and involvement in clubs, service clubs, church memberships, general and special interests, or perhaps even weather related issues.

Many decide to stay in their own home (often their biggest investment); they upgrade and remodel for more comfort and security. They show interest in refinance programs, such as reversed mortgages, etc.

  • Others are tired of having to keep up their large yard and home. They have watched their friends and neighbors move into a 55+ community where they can enjoy a smaller house and yard; they already know some of their new or old neighbors with whom they travel, play bridge, go golfing, fishing and enjoy parties at the club-house within the community.

  • The retirees who have always loved to travel might purchase a motorhome to visit many of the other States; there are also quite a few overseas travelers, who now have the time, funds and energy to globe-trott. Much is being re-evaluated due to the high gasoline and airline prices.

  • Also very popular with retirees are condos in the city to go strolling in the parks, get to know all those great restaurants and coffee houses and shops, visit museums and enjoy the theatre and arts, during the fall and winter.

  • For the out-doors enthusiast a move near a golf course, rivers and lakes through-out Arizona might just be what they have dreamed of all their lives.

  • Looking for a life-style that caters to the retiree who is looking for personal security in beautiful surroundings, socialization and where pampering is on the amenity list - a Retirement Community might just be the ticket. Some offer single, small houses, others apartments within a large building. Housekeeping, changes of linen, 2 or 3 meals a day prepared by a chef, outings, travel, exercise and recreation, transportation and many other services are either included in the monthly rent or available for a reasonable fee. There are a multitude of options to choose from.

  • Interested in buy-in properties to have that guarantee to receive long-term care after retirement? That's certainly an option.

Arizona continues to spread the welcome mat for Snowbirds with their annual migration of seniors and retirees fleeing the frozen North for sunny Arizona. Yuma's population of 64,000 is said to more than double in size with the invasion of warmth-seeking snowbirds, as does Mesa, Apache Junction, Quartzsite and posh Scottsdale.
